What does the bible say about Justice?

There are many bible verses speaking about God's just character and about social interaction, and with the current heightened awareness of social injustice, I wanted to share a list of bible verses that have stood out. All that we do should be based on bible principle, and so it is especially important to know what the bible says about injustice among people and lack of righteous judgement. You may notice that the bible doesn't necessarily mention all groups of people, but the key here is to understand God's principle. The world changes through time, but God's principle does not.

*My Bible is the English Standard Version, but I will link the verse to the King James Version for those who want to check out another source.

You shall appoint judges and officers in all your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, according to your tribes, and they shall judge the people with righteous judgment. You shall not pervert justice. You shall not show partiality, and you shall not accept a bribe, for a bribe blinds the eyes of the wise and subverts the cause of the righteous. Justice, and only justice, you shall follow, that you may live and inherit the land that the Lord your God is giving you.

'Cursed be anyone who perverts the justice due to the sojourner, the fatherless, and the widow.' And all the people shall say 'Amen.'

The Rock, his work is perfect, for all his ways are justice. A God of faithfulness and without iniquity, just and upright is he.

Now then, let the fear of the Lord be upon you. Be careful what you do for there is no injustice with the Lord our God, or partiality or taking bribes.

He loves righteousnes and justice; the earth is full of the steadfast love of the Lord.

How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute.

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; steadfast love and faithfuless go before you.

The Lord works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed.

Blessed are they who observe justice, who do righteousness at all times.

I know that the Lord will maintain the cause of the afflicted, and will execute justice for the needy.

It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the righteous of justice.

To do righteousness and justice is more acceptable to the Lord than sacrifice.

These also are sayings of the wise. Partiality in judging is not good. Whoever says to the wicked, "You are in the right," will be cursed by peoples, abhorred by nations, but those who rebuke the wicked will have delight, and a good blessing will come upon them.

Like a muddied spring or a polluted fountain is a righteous man who gives way before the wicked.

Open your mouth for the mute, for the rights of all who are destitute, open your mouth, judge righteously, defend the rights of the poor and needy.

Learn to do good, seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow's cause.

For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong; I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.

Thus says the Lord: Do justice and righteousness, and deliver from the hand of the oppressor him who has been robbed. And do no wrong or violence to the resident alien, the fatherless, and the widow, nor shed innocent blood in this place...But if you will not obey these words I swear by myself, declares the Lord, that this house shall become a desolation.

But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever flowing stream.

He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?

The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor.

For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality.

Masters, treat your bondservants justly and fairly, knowing that you also have a Master in heaven.

Religion that is pure an undefiled before God the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

But if anyone has the world's goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God's love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and truth.

Amigos, I hope these verses offered some light on the standard of God. Let it be a guide for the actions you take, not just now, but always. There are injustices of all kind and as Christians we are to be the hands and feet of Jesus.

It's time to get to work. Enough is enough.
