Like, Who Are You Sis?

So I totally realized that I just showed up on the internets without letting you know anything about myself. If someone walked up to me and just started talking to me, I'd look at them funny and say "who are you sis?". Okay, jayykayy, I'd say hello with a smile, but I'd totally be thinking of the former in my head. So I thought it'd be cool to answer 25 random questions about myself so you can get to know me!

OU Graduation May '17

1. Are you named after anyone

Not exactly. My grandmother’s middle name is Eleasa and my parents liked it, but they also wanted me to have the same initials as my father. Thus, they made my middle name similar - Melise.

2. Where did you go to college?

For my first degree (B.S. in Biology), I went to Oakwood University located in Huntsville, Alabama. For my second degree (B.S. in Nursing), I went to Rutgers The State University of New Jersey located in New Brunswick, New Jersey.

3. What’s the biggest project on your to-do list?

Generally speaking, I would probably say branding myself. There are so many components to building myself and creating the life I want to live. If I had to choose a more specific thing under that broader bullet point, my biggest current project is getting my Registered Nurse License. I’m almost 2 years into the process and the next step is to take my licensing exam.

4. Have you ever traveled outside the country? If, so where?

OH YES! I loooooooove to travel! I have been to Canada , Jamaica, Germany, England, France, Switzerland, The Netherlands, and Belgium.

5. If you weren’t in your current job, what would you want to be doing?

Currently I’m a CNA, but I would much rather be a Nurse already — so I choose that. If I had to choose a profession outside of healthcare all together, I would probably be a social worker. Yes, I know that’s like so un-amusing because its another service job, but I think I’d be good at it. If I had to choose a job like completely un-related to service, I’d totally dig being a food critic! I. LOVE. Food!

6. Can you cook?

I can! For the longest time I told people I couldn’t because I’m not a chef chef, but I realize I can finesse a lot of dishes without recipes. And plus, nobody knows how to cook every every dish until they learn — and I simply just haven’t learned all the dishes I want to. But I am now confidently declaring that I can cook, I just do not have to so much at this stage in my life.

7. What is your favorite drink?

Well first let me say this, I don’t drink alcohol, so automatically I’m choosing from the non-alcoholic drink list. That being said, peach flavored juice or soda. I drink it RARELY, but I love love love it. I drink water the most (it’s pretty much all I drink) because it’s healthy, and it’s probably my second favorite beverage, but I like peach flavored beverages more.

8. Can you touch your nose with your tongue?

Nopers. I have a short stubby tongue. It’s so tragic

9. What is your favorite song at the moment?

Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong United. It’s an oldie, but it really calms my spirit. It’s one of the songs that never get old for me. Iv’e been tired and stressed, and this song helps me keep my sanity.

10. Do you take the shampoos and conditioner bottles from hotels?

Absolutely!! Listen bud, those things are there for me and I shall use them. Granted, the small amount covers like 1/16 of my hair, pero that shampoo works great if I run out and need something quick that day. These hotels give us free shampoo, conditioner, make-up removal wipes, and bar soap and I am just morally obligated to use them. It would be a sin if I didn’t take what I am given. *shrugs*

11. Do you speak any other languages?

The only language I speak fluently is English. My next best language is Spanish. After that is American Sign language (ASL). I really like learning languages and so I know words in other languages, but I plan to become fluent in Spanish and ASL.

12. Favorite Blog?

Is it too cocky to say mine? This blog is my baby, it’s my second child (my hair being my first). While I am new to the blogging world and have just begun following other blogs, there are two blogs that I intentionally kept up with before becoming a blogger myself, and I feel they are worth mentioning. Those blogs are ‘This is Elyse’ and ‘HeyTaeMama’.

13. Cheetos or Fritos?

CCHHHHHEEEEETTTOOOOOOSSSSS. I like Fritos too, but Cheetos are my favorite chip snack.

14. Favorite TV Shows?

I do not have a single favorite TV show, I watch a lot of shows, but my favorite kind are medical and crime/justice dramas.

15. Can you change the oil in a car?

I shall learn soon, but at the moment I cannot.

16. What do you dip a chicken nugget in?

I’ve significantly limited my intake of meat in an effort to be healthier, but the standard remains the same — chicken nuggets belong in BBQ sauce.

17. What is your usual bedtime?

Well, I work at nights so my bedtime is between 4p and 6p. However, I will be changing my work schedule soon and my bedtime will be 9. I learned that 9p-3p is the time where you get the best quality sleep, so soon I will be working in the morning and winding down by 8p so I can sleep by 9p.

18. Do you have any magazine subscriptions?

Yeppers, Essence. Also, People but that was an impulse subscription for collaging needs (it was free). I collage to de-stress and to make my vision boards. Check out my post about making a vision board for 2019!

19. Ever watch soap operas?

I love the telenovelas, or teles, on Netflix to help with my Spanish, and also because they are so good! The last one I watched was House of Flowers and I really enjoyed it.

20. Do you sing in the car?

Yes yes yes!!! I sing at home, at church, and I used to sing in a choir; why deprive my car of receiving the same honor?

21. Ever take dance lessons?

Actually, yes. As a young’n I took Irish dance lessons.

22. Hot tea or cold tea?

Lukewarm? I don’t like hot tea and I don’t cold beverages. I like non-hot tea without ice. It’s weird, I know.

My favorite tea is Tazo Passion Herbal Tea

23. Can you hold your breath without holding your nose?

Yessir’ I can. Even though I totally knew I could, I just tried to make sure. I bet you did too!

24. Do you want to get married?

Yes I doooooo.

25. Is your second toe longer than your big toe?

Nah, my big toe is the longest/largest and I like it like that! Lowkey, longer index toes freak me out even though its perfectly normal.

Now you know a little bit more about me! Let's be friends!!

Hablamos Pronto,

Jesseñia Melise
